IS2 is a privately owned, independent company and the management of the business is in the hands of a team with over 70 years’ experience in insurance software solutions. IS2 combines seasoned insurance industry experience and innovative, but commercially sound technologists. 



Founder, Managing Director

Simon founded IS2 in 1996 after a career in software engineering. He lead the team which developed for Coors, one of the most successful B2B web implementations in the UK at that time, it was the No. 1 website within the hospitality sector, taking over £9M per week in online orders.

IS2 quickly became established as a provider of tools for the early adopters of technology at the point of sale within the insurance industry. Simon identified the opportunity around web-based technology in general insurance and he shaped IS2’s E-Trading platform.  He worked in a pioneering capacity within personal lines and the aggregator high volume space, delivering intelligent real-time rule based pricing and powering many high profile brands in the sector.

He is passionate about how web technology can be used to make a real difference to IS2’s customers. Delivering a tangible ROI for customers is at the heart of IS2 and the operational development strategy is driven by Simon is to provide an agile approach, meaning IS2’s customers can benefit from the company’s flexible and rapid time to market capability.  Simon has continually driven a re-investment programme in the businesses technology, to ensure IS2 has maintained an R&D driven focus. So whilst IS2 as a business has been around a long time, the software platform has stayed very much ahead of the curve in terms of technical innovation and functional capability. A truly modern platform, but one that embodies over two decades of experience.


Commercial Director

Joe has held senior positions in both the technology and insurance sectors spanning over 30 years. This has allowed him to develop a unique understanding and insight into the complex business demands of insurance distribution and the opportunities presented by applying modern technology innovation.

Joe began his career at a national high-street insurance brokerage before becoming a founding partner of his own broker business. He subsequently joined the leadership team of a tech start-up, Insurecom culminating in being recognised as a ‘Fast Track’ 100 Company. He then joined the board at a top 100 UK brokerage and led offshore and nearshore projects in Europe and Asia.

In 2011 Joe re-joined Insurecom leadership team and played a pivotal role in the strategic rethink and future direction, leading to a successful acquisition by Applied Systems, the leading global provider of cloud-based software for the insurance industry. Taking up the position of Managing Director, he led Applied’s UK broker business and oversaw a period of significant growth, increasing annual sales from £1.3m to £10.8m and doubling revenue from £5m to >£10m. Joe then took the newly created Chief Operating Officer position of Applied Systems European business overseeing technical delivery and operational functions.

Since 2021, Joe has provided strategic and operational consultancy to technology suppliers and Insurtechs.



Fred has worked within the technology sector all of his adult life, after successful careers with NCR and Honeywell he founded Fame Computers in 1982. 

Fame pioneered the use of technology within the UK life & general insurance industry, including the first use of EDI within the sector. Fred a successful entrepreneur built that business from a self-funded start-up, to a business with annual turnover of over £13M, making a profit of £3m and employing 190 full-time staff, with most of the UK’s major insurers as customers. 

IS2 benefits from Fred’s wealth of experience and general insurance industry knowledge. He has been responsible for business development and for IS2 gaining some very prestigious customers and key partners.


Technical Director

Richard was with the Express Insurance Group for 9 years prior to joining IS2. Express Insurance were early adopters of the IS2 online E-Commerce platform and Richard was responsible for their online channels from a technical perspective. 

At IS2 Richard sets the technical strategy for the business and ensures our chosen development platform and infrastructure are robust enough to meet the requirements that high volume 24/7 E-Commerce demands. 

Although he is an extraordinary technologist responsible for IS2’s technical strategy, he has a very detailed working knowledge of general insurance products and broker businesses.


Business Development Director

Lucy has accumulated almost 20 years of experience in the insurance technology sector, helping customers maximize their investments in insurance technology.

Her expertise lies in providing specialist consulting to customers, helping them solve complex business problems by implementing the most suitable technology solutions.

Lucy’s early career exposed her to various aspects of the technology business, including support, product development, sales, and consultancy. Additionally, her background in finance provides her with an all-encompassing view of technology solutions.

In her previous role as Head of Solution Consulting at Applied Systems, the leading global provider of cloud-based software for the insurance industry, Lucy and her team consistently overachieved, supporting sales bookings exceeding £10m annually.

With her detailed understanding of the general insurance industry, Lucy will be an asset to IS2, establishing relationships with existing and new partners as a Business Development Director.


Head of Platform

Adrian first joined IS2 in 2000 in a software development role. During his time here he has worked on many different projects, from high volume personal lines systems, through to niche commercial schemes. The experience he has gained is invaluable and his GI product knowledge, we think – is second to none. 

He is responsible for bringing much of the key functionality within our platform to market. Although he now oversees development teams, he still has a very hands on approach and can regularly be seen grappling with even the most complex of underwriting guides. 

Our Atlas platform has an ambitious product roadmap and we know this in safe hands. 


Head of Project Delivery

Pete has been with IS2 over 20 years now. Pete is a talented creative designer, with a product design background and originally worked within the business in the key area of user interface development and creative design. This is an area which is underestimated by many, at their cost – and is finally being recoginsed as one of the most important components in any web channel. 

Pete has developed his GI knowledge to a high level and played a key part in ensuring IS2 meet the expectations of our customers in terms of delivering against requirements and budget. 

Pete has overall responsibility for project delivery and all the coordination that is required with stakeholders to ensure the project is a success. 


Head of UX

Alguer’s role at IS2 includes ensuring what can be complex user journeys are presented to the customer in the most effective way possible. Given the products can also sometimes be complex, this is where Alguer’s deep understanding of the web and user interfaces is so important. 

This is a really key area for IS2 and one of our major strengths. The user journeys we build are smart and dynamic. Efficient in terms of the data collected, responding to the details of the risk and the products selected in real-time, to ensure the interaction with the customer is smooth and free of frustrations as is possible. 

Alguer works with recognised brands and understands that the representation of an existing brand is crucial in any new web channels that get developed, but if it’s a new brief, he has the creative capacity to turn your vision into a reality.
